My toddler has porridge for breakfast every day- it’s just so much better for you than most breakfast cereals or toast etc and she really doesn’t have a problem with having the same thing every day (despite my husband teasing me that all I give her is gruel!)
So I like baby to have porridge too- but it can be a majorly messy affair offering a bowl of porridge to a 6 month old! Porridge fingers are the solution to that problem! And- I love that you can keep them in the fridge for a few days so you only need to make them twice a week! These ones have blueberries but I typically leave them plain. You can put most fruits in them- so experiment if you like!!
Ingredients-
Porridge oats
Milk (use whichever type you like- cows milk, soy milk, almond milk, breastmilk, formula!)
Blueberries (or any other fruit really!)
In a microwaveable square container put a tablespoon of milk for each tablespoon of oats until it fills the bottom! Leave the oats to soak up the milk for 2-3mins.
Add a couple of spoons of blueberries and mix in. Pat down and put in the microwave for 90secs
Give the mixture a gentle mix to spread the berries and pat down again. Microwave for another 30secs. Then leave to cool completely.
Turn out onto a chopping board and cut into slices. They can be stored for a couple of days in the fridge so this is breakfast for the next few days! Simple!
